Chewing tobacco to worm dogs??

my grandfather said this is the best way to clean a dog out. any truth to this?
I have been using the chewing tobacco wormer for years. It works wonders!! WAY better than any high priced crap you get from the vet! (crooks) Use Levi Garrett or Beech Nut.
No, it's poisonous to dogs.
No, this is the best way to kill a dog.

This barbaric method was old when your grandfather was born - and before vets had perfectly good dewormers for dogs.

Go to a vet, get dewormer. First have the dog tested to see what kind of worms he has.

Tobacco is toxic for dogs - doesn't do humans much good either.

Please keep your grandfather away from animals - he's scary.
Sorry, but never heard of this and really don't know how tobacco could possible kill worms in a dog.Better stick with a good brand of dog wormer from vet.
Yes it works I have done it for years. Just don't give them more than a pinch or you will get it back!
No, nicotine is poisonous. Apparently, people have done it, but obviously it can end badly. Please don't risk it.
dewormer doesnt cost alot.. whyd u get a dog if u cant take care of it?

im 13 and know how to take better care for my dog then u and when i start making my OWN money in a 4 months when im 14 im gonna use that money for my dog...
ya this works i used it all the time yrs ago (my dogs haven't had any worms)since i used it back then(no need to use it) it was red mans chewing tobacco that's what my father in law used on the farm to deworm his dogs
OMG. I can't believe this old wives tale is still around. It's totally false.
You say you can't afford to buy any "fancy" wormer. LMAO. Do you live in a cave? Go to walmart, a feed store, or a pet store or some online websites and spend a few bucks on some wormer.
Tobacco Products
Cigarettes and cigarette butts, cigars, pipe tobacco, nicotine patches, nicotine gum and chewing tobacco can be fatal to dogs if ingested. Signs of nicotine poisoning can appear within an hour and include hyperactivity, salivation, panting, vomiting and diarrhea. Advanced signs include muscle weakness, twitching, collapse, coma, increased heart rate and cardiac arrest. If anyone who lives in or visits your home smokes, tell them to keep tobacco products out of reach of pets and to dispose of butts immediately. If you suspect your dog has ingested any of these seek veterinary treatment immediately.

I guess if the dog is dead the worms will be also.
